About Robbins Nursery and Landscaping

Robbins Nursery is a Topsoil company which has been successfully running for over 50 years. Walter Robbins started Robbins Nursery in 1959, when he decided to branch out from the nursery he was currently working at and start his own business. His first move to get into his own nursery business was to sell his wife’s car, so that he could buy his first truck.

In the 1960s Robbins nursery focused primarily on landscaping for big building companies at the time. The 1970s and 80s saw the company expand to a complete garden centre, along with a gift shop. In the 1990s the company did all heavy landscaping jobs in Richmond, DCand Maryland. In the late 1990s however the company shifted its focus to topsoil screening.

In 1999 Walter Robbins’ son Mark became involved in the business and since then they have been focusing on bulk topsoil and landscaping materials. Today Robbins Nursery supplies contractors, landscapers and homeowners. Robbins also now produces and sells top quality dyed and natural mulch.
